Normal AU chapter 5

Kai’s POV

Kai was laying on his bed listening to Beyoncé, when the front door slammed shut.

He heard the familiar sound of the leather purse thudding down on the table by the door.

Kai jumped out of bed, and ran down the hallway to the front room.

He stood in the door way in the hall looking skeptically at Nya.

“Hello young lady.” He said firmly.

Nya turned and looked at him startled.

“Oh hello Kai.” She said.

“Nya. Why were you out so late.” He asked.

Nya glanced at the clock, which said 8:00.

“By “late”, you mean eight pm?” She asked, putting her hands on her hips.

“YES!!!! YOUR CURFEW IS 5PM!!!!” He yelled angrily.

Nya rolled her eyes and walked down the hall to her room.

Kai groaned, and went into the kitchen.

Nya was only 17!!! Being out of the house after dark was out of the question.

He plopped down in a chair, and only 5 seconds later he heard the phone ringing.

When they moved there there was already a landline, and it rang randomly all the time.

Kai got up and picked up the phone. “Hello, this is the Smith residence, lemme guess, wrong number.” He said in a bored tone.

“Guess again hothead.” A familiar voice said.

“O-oh Skylor! I’m so sorry I didn’t know it was you!” Kai said quickly.

“Yeah. Well I was just calling to see if Nya’s date went well! She hasn’t texted me yet!” She said excitedly.

Kai nearly dropped the phone.

“DATE!? WHAT DATE!?!?” He screamed into the phone.

“You didn’t know? I thought she would’ve told you? She came over to my house earlier and I helped her get ready!”

Kai sighed. “I was listening to Beyoncé.”

“Ohhhh.” Skylor sighed knowingly.

“Who was the date with?” Kai asked nervously.

“Some guy from Ninjago College. Jay Gordon Walker.” She said, reading off the text from Nya.

Kai dropped the phone.

“Kai? Kai you there?”
